Titus Okiru

Eng. Titus Okiru is a certified sound engineer, journalist, and teacher with a broad command of sound engineering, live sound, audio-visual technical production, directing, and radio and TV production. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sound Production from the School of Audio Engineering in South Africa, a Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Nkumba University, and a teaching certificate — a background that lets him move fluently between the technical booth and the editorial side of a production.

He currently works as an audio engineer at TBWA\Uganda, responsible for the technical side of recording, mixing, and reproducing sound to a professional standard across music, studio sessions, live performances, adverts, promos, and film and video productions. In audio post he has handled dialogue, sound design, and mixing for the telenovelas Beloved, Crossroads, and Damalie, as well as the Retaliation movie trailer, and he has produced and mixed adverts for MTN, Nile Breweries, DStv, ABSA Bank, Plascon Paints, and others.

Live sound is a major thread in his career. He served as the AVL technical team leader for Watoto Ministries and as lead sound systems engineer for the Boyz II Men, Sauti Sol, and Sheebah & Cindy battle concerts in Uganda, worked as monitor mixing engineer for Fireboy DML and Johnny Drille, and ran front-of-house for Vinka. He was front-of-house engineer for the Rugby Africa Sevens World Cup qualifiers and the resident sound engineer for the Prime Minister's agricultural tour in Western Uganda, and he has mixed theatrical productions of The Merchant of Venice and My Fair Lady. Alongside this he has worked as a radio and digital-media producer, creating and editing content, promos, jingles, and imaging. His skill set spans sound engineering, sound design, film composition and score, audiovisual and lighting production, video production, script writing, and radio imaging.
